Sian Pearson, William Hare UK Design Engineer recently took part in a STEM event for International Women in Engineering Day at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester.

The event was organised for 3 schools to attend, but members of the public were also in attendance.

Sian provided activities for the different range of age groups, including dressing up as an engineer, find the fib – a lift the flap game about engineering facts and following the design of No.1 Spinningfields through from calculation to model to shop to site. This William Hare project was chosen in particular as it is situated in close proximity to the Museum and is complete so the people who took part could see the building itself on their way home from the event.

International Women in Engineering Day is now an international awareness campaign to raise the profile of women in engineering and focus attention on the amazing career opportunities available to girls in this exciting industry. It takes place annually on 23rd June.
